Way back when, when they decided for better or for worse that the car would be king in Los Angeles, the need arose for places to clean the smoggy filth off of those cars. As was the style in the 1950s and 60s, they built some really cool and rather elaborate car washes. Fortunately many of them are still around today — they managed to escape the wrecking ball, a fate to which most of their fellow Google-style coffee shops and bowling alleys succumbed.
