Video: Reyner Banham Tours LA

Reyner Banham’s 1971 book “Los Angeles: The Architecture of Four Ecologies” should be required reading for all residents of our fair city. I will write about him at length soon, but in brief, Banham was a Brit who first visited Los Angeles in 1964 and fell in love with the place. The romance between a city built on cars and a man who could not drive was unlikely, but it resulted in perhaps the best book ever written about LA. He also made a a BBC special in 1972 called “Reyner Banham Love Los Angeles.” It’s long, but it’s a lot of fun:
